A Weekend Challenge

What are you all up too this weekend? I have a huge challenge on my hands.

The lovely ladies from the day unit have been busy knitting squares for a blanket for the Syrian refugees and I am attempting to put them all together.

Why its a challenge...although I asked for eight inch squares some are and some are not, they have come in all sizes

One of the ladies is partially blind and has dropped lots of loops here and there so I have to find them and fill in the holes.

There are 48 squares and at least 100 ends to weave in

I really need to get it finished this weekend because the box is going off on Thursday and I have lots of other things to finish off too.

I want to make the best job I can on it because they have worked so hard making these squares, their ages average 85 years old!.

Will I do it.....wish me luck!

Have a great weekend whatever you are doing. :)

  1. Wow! That is a big ask. It has just taken me weeks to sew 25 squares into a blanket, so I know how much work is involved. Good luck and I can't wait to see it.

  9. I feel your pain. I have a very large bag full of squares awaiting my attention after Christmas. I took them out a while back and was so amazed by their individuality that I put it straight back again until I was feeling stronger!!!!!

    1. Believe me Linda I am motivated to do this because these ladies have worked so hard despite arthritis, poor eyesight even strokes, it's the least I can do. However I too have a bag full of odd squares awaiting my attention and it has been waiting for over a year now, I will get to it one day haha

    2. It would be nice if you two Linda's could put all you squares together, that way you may find you can match up the sizes better! Law of averages and all that.

  13. Hey there, busy bee - that's a huge job you're doing here (I've never learned how to fix even one single dropped stitch, that's probably why I've never really liked knitting). I wish you good luck with your week-end Challenge, but I'm sure you'll succeed as usual ;)

I've just published your guest-post, and I hope you'll have lots of visitors dropping by and saying hello! :)
