One for me.

I actually finished this top a few weeks ago

crochet,mesh,top,ladies,easy

If you can remember I bought the yarn back here
It was really fun to make and the pattern was easy to follow but I'm not really sure what I think of it, I sort of like it but even though it's made with a cotton yarn it's Aran weight so it's too warm to wear it when the weather is hot and it's not warm enough when the weather is cold because of the short sleeves and the holes of course...

so I suppose the only option is to wear it when the weather is warmish and add a cardigan if it gets too cold...

I'm going to wear it today for the first time so it's on trial as it were. I think I should have made a larger size because it shows up my lumps and bumps. If I don't feel comfortable in it then it's going to be frogged.

I really don't know why I bother trying to make things for myself I never wear them.. perhaps I'm just too fussy what do you think would you wear it? be honest :)

You can find the pattern here

I think this is the first thing I've made thats not a stash-buster for months or could it be years? it seems strange not linking it to the stash link party, you have until Sunday evening to link your stash-busting makes to the Summer Stash Party do take a look at the lovely Summer projects you have all been making.

For those who are counting please leave me your totals and thank you to those who have already. :)

Hope you are all having a great week!

  1. Good Morning Linda, I know what you mean about never being happy with things that you make for yourself because I am exactly the same. I too am very picky and I seem to focus on the minutest of faults... I wonder why we are so hard on ourselves..... but you really don't have to worry about your pretty top as the colour is lovely and the top really does suit you..... please don't 'frog' it....that would be such a shame.
The weather is so up and down here in the North East that your top is perfect.
    Enjoy wearing your lovely top.
    Best Wishes

  3. I think it looks very nice on you Linda. For the cooler months, you can make the sleeves a little longer and wear a tank top underneath it. Have a good day. :)

  4. I was planning to make a lot of tops pour moi this year, but stopped after 2. I think I have enough clothes. That didn't stop me buying a lovely gilet in Edinburgh Woolen Mill today. By coincidence it would look good over your crochet top. So maybe that is an option....to put lightweight waistcoat over it.

  5. It looks lovely, and I was going to suggest as I see that Debi Y already has done and to put a top on underneath with long sleeves, then you might be less worried about any bumps as well, not that I see any bumps in the picture - other than the ones that are meant to be there. Perhaps I should stop now!! xx

  6. Yes, I agree with the others before me. Use a tank with long arms under the top. This is my method to use nearly all Summer clothes in Autumn or Winter. It's a beautyful colour, I love this Green.

  9. I can understand how the Aran weight yarn doesn't suit the style of this top, It really needs to be in a lighter yarn for summer or a different style of top for Autumn, such a dilemma. it would be such a shame to frog it though as it is pretty, how about layering it, wear a long sleeve plain white Tee under it?.

  10. I think this suits you well. The colour and shape is perfect.
I wear mostly handmade as the fit is better for my odd shape than store bought clothes. Wear your top with pride and any of the ways already suggested will work for this piece.

  12. I'm just popping back to add that, as other ladies like the idea of wearing this over a t-shirt, it would make a lovely swingy waistcoat. I don't know if it is possible to steek crochet. But, if it is, you are the person for the job. I'm not saying this needs to be improved. But if you aren't happy with it, you might not wear it and that would be a shame.

  15. Very beautiful and really does suit you, don't frog!! For winter: As some others already said, just wear a shirt or a blouse with long sleeves under it :-)

  17. I love your top Linda - and it is such a pretty colour.
I never make anything for myself to wear either - so I know how you feel!
But I think you should wear it with pride. It suits you. Marianna

  18. You've picked a lovely colour and the top suits you very well. But I would frog it when I didn't make me feel happy wearing it and make another one.

  19. It's pretty. Perhaps you could weather it with a long sleeved shirt underneath when the weather starts to turn cooler. I don't like things to cling -- and if I don't feel comfortable in something, then out it goes. I've only made one shawl and have never used it. Have made lots of scarves. But never any clothing. I'll have one last summer stashbusting post tomorrow. :) Best wishes, Tammy

  20. Okay, took a good look at it and at you. I wonder if you may like it better with sleeves a little bit longer? But just as thin? I do like it as is. Good job there.

  22. I like the top. It looks good on you, don't bother. I can't see any lumps and bumps, just a lovely lady. I know what you mean about hot and cold. Mayb e you could wear a shirt with long sleeves underneath. That's what I do these days. Have a nice week. Regula

  23. Hi Linda, personally, I think you look wonderful in your pretty top!! I'm a bit "larger" in some areas that I think I should be, so I too am very picky about how my clothes fit. I often think we are a bit too hard on ourselves though. I figure, as long as I'm clean and at least modestly dressed, I should be happy with that ;) I had a thought about this top for when the weather is cooler. They have these long sleeve tops that are made of a very light jersey knit (they're skin tight hahaha, so I would never wear one without another shirt over the top!) But maybe you could find one of those to wear underneath for when the weather is cooler :) I think its beautifully made and looks just splendid on you---do NOT frog it!! :)
