All done! and a new Challenge

The very last ends have been woven in.....

I haven't counted them but there's lots and it took me ages, they will be going into my scrap jar and so here it is...

My daughters throw is all done :)
I really loved making this throw, it's a great one to try and I urge you to give it a go if you haven't already.

easy, crochet

The beauty about making a corner to corner throw is, in the beginning you don't mind that each row gets bigger and bigger because you are all fired up about your new project..

Then just when you start to get a bit fed up you start the home journey and each row gets shorter and shorter.

I will be making more of these in the future that's for sure as they are great stash-busters too.  Now all I need to do is fold it and tie it with a pretty bow and hide it way till Christmas.

My throw measures 110cms square and I worked 65 rows before decreasing.

I used Hayfield Bonus Dk in shades
Classic red
Emerald
Sunflower
Purple
White
Navy
Bluebell
It took one ball of each and two of the red this is what's left.

I will be using this yarn for my new challenge which is to make as many things as I can for Operation Orphan, I have just two weeks because the deadline is the second week in December when they will be taking knitted/crocheted.. hats, blankets, cardigans, sweaters, scarves, mittens and gloves to the Syrian refugee children.

My local Loving Hands group are trying to fill up a box along with lots of honorary Loving Hands members which include some of the ladies from the Day Unit where I work one of which is Maisie who has started the ball rolling with these lovely donations....

Maisie has helped us before and I wanted to put her photo here along with the donations but bless her she blushed and said "Oh no! I don't think so pet" So I just want to say a huge thank you to Maisie who's in her eighties and has so many health problems but still wants to help wherever she can.

If you want to join in the address to send your donations is...

  4. Such a wonderful blanket!!!! I wondered if it was possible to make something like this a little while ago as I wanted some crochet that would behave rather like bias cut fabric, and now I see that it is, and in spectacular style too!!! It really is wonderful. xx

  17. I love this corner to corner blanket Linda and the way you said the rows get shorter and shorter on the homeward run. The colours are popping beautifully, I think it's because you have black, navy and dark purple with those paintbox primary colours.
Well done to Maisie with getting everyone started with filling up the donation box, bless her.
Your scraps jar must be filling up again quite nicely x

  21. Love that blanket. So colorful. A friend recently told me about making these and I had no idea what she was talking about so she had to show a picture and explain. Had never seen a pattern for this before. Very interesting. I'm working on a giant granny and the bigger it gets, the longer it takes to finish rounds, but at least the same stitch over and over is kinda soothing, and you can pick up and leave it at any time without worrying about where you left off. Bless Maisie's heart. She sounds like a lovely woman. And bless you for your donations. Best wishes, Tammy
