Five on Friday

This and That.

Happy Friday everyone! and a big thank you for all the lovely comments that you have left me for the Baby Girl blanket and I must apologize for my absence from your blogs, I have my youngest son visiting for a week from Cambridge  and it's been pretty full on with family coming to see him and me not wanting to miss a single minute of his company between work and all the other things that have to be done but I will try to catch up this weekend.

It's also been a bit of a painful week..

As some of you know I started going to a step fit class a few weeks ago, step fit? what a laugh! a couple of weeks ago I twisted my knee and it's been hurting ever since and this week I have hurt my foot and I can hardly walk maybe my body is trying to tell me something, perhaps I should leave it to the young ones although I do enjoy going and it does put a smile on my face that is when I'm not hurting too much!

Saying goodbye

It had to be done I really had come to the end of my tether with this tank.  It has given me a lot of pleasure over the last eight years but the cleaning of it every week was getting to be a chore.  Last week as well as having the twisted knee I pulled a muscle in my side when lifting a heavy bucket of water to fill the tank.
So when I saw someone sending out a plea for a fish tank on Facebook because theirs was leaking I got in touch and and a young mum came and took it off my hands.

She sent me a photo showing me how she has set it up, I think it looks very pretty, her friend is taking care of the fish in her tank until this tank is ready.  She has two little boys who had a lovely surprise when they got home from school and saw it.  I hope it gives them lots of pleasure.

Saying Hello

It's lovely to see my bleeding hearts coming into bloom again after their long winter sleep...

and the tulips blooming under the eucalyptus tree in the front garden.

And finally ...

A WARNING!!

Thank you to Elaine and Jean for bringing this to my attention.

hope you all have the best of weekends. :)

  1. Sorry to hear about your knee, hope it is a speedy recover. Sad when ones finishes a phase as in the fish tank, but it sounds to me that it was the right move. OH M Y WORD! I love your notice about the yarn. My last post, last week was all about crochet tension and sayings, this would have fitted perfectly, in fact I am surprised my husband didn't pen this...

  4. Knee aside - I hope it gets better soon! - all such good things and fun things too!! I love the tale about the yarn, that is so funny!!! I think it is right, it is the yarns fault for calling to us!!!!! It is great that your fish tank has found a new home and will be so enjoyed by another generation. Thank you so much for joining in. I hope that you have a great weekend! xx

  5. I enjoyed looking at your five on Friday, and other things on your blog. We too used to keep fish - the tropical marine kind, so I well understand your frustration. I still miss the relaxation from watching the little characters that some of the fish seemed to have but oh I definitely do not miss all the work involved.

  6. Looks like your garden is coming to life. Tulips are one of my favorite springtime flower. Love the warning about yarn; cute! I should have it framed and put on the door that enters the danger zone of what I hope one day to be a craft room. Have a great day Linda. Heather

  10. You are so lovely to donate that tank to a family that will enjoy it so much. Your poor knee and back, I think you should rest all weekend with your feet up and a crochet hook in your hands. Love that bit about the yarn, so true isn't it?
    Hugs to you,
    Meredith

  12. Oh, no! Sorry you are hurting. I tried to take a step class once and lasted only about three times before I was so injured I had to stop and get medical attention. I've never been the same since! It just doesn't pay to try to be healthy! Haha. Don't you listen to me! Your flowers and plants are looking good. Thanks for the chuckle too!

  16. Hello, visiting from Five on Friday. Sorry to read about your knee - hope all will be well soon. I did a bit of gardening on Thursday and am still aching from moving just one heavy plant pot full of lupins! What a lovely way to pass on your fish tank:)

  17. I found the 'yarn addiction warning' very amusing! I stand and stare at my 4 large boxes of yarn - or the yarn wall as my husband calls it - and wonder whether I'm ever going to need enough knitted garments that amount of yarn offers. Lovely to meet you through 5 on Friday. Judy.

  18. Ouch!! I hope your knee and foot get better soon. It seems to me the older you get, there seems to be a new ailment with each morning! I just knew there was a reason why I seem to have a little too much yarn than I should. Thank you for enlightening me.......love this warning....it did make me smile.

  19. Oh poor you Linda. At least you did it at a keep fit class. I walked Bertie and Charlie and now I am in pain
with my left hand . Hope you feel better soon. Such a lovely story about your fishtank.

  22. Ooh ouch, I am sorry, I'd be hopeless at step, my coordination is rubbish. As to yarn, I personally blame a group of dreadful enabling women in Frodsham, Cheshire for the size of my stash. I joined their group ostensibly for some chat and stitching while they knitted....ha......they sucked me into their yarny world and I came back to the States after a couple of years with two large containers of the stuff! Going to give this five on Friday a go this week.
