Found a kitchen scale to borrow so here's my totals for January: 3lb. 3 oz, which if I can figure the grams out correctly, works out to 1446 grams. ??? I didn't include the 2 squares I made for charity, but I don't think they'd add to that much anyway. I'll include those when I have a pile ready to mail.

DeleteI finished weighing the stash. It wasn't as hard as I thought, and I'm happy to see I'm in good company. I have 16,691 g of yarn in my stash. Yikes! Guess I've got some scarves, shawls, hats and afghans in my future, hmmm?

DeleteI was in New York retreiving my oldest son from his stint in the US Army at the end of April and beginning of May, so I didn't get everything weighed or reported. I got lots of stash busted as we traveled home though, and continue to work on the mood blanket, which will get weighed when its done. For the two months together (April/May), I busted 1502.52 grams of stash yarn! Whoohoooo!
ReplyDeleteAlso - in answer to the March challenge to use up something you weren't fond of, I finally got around to using the baby weight yarn I've had for what seems like forever. *I* didn't actually make anything with it. I have a friend who needed a project while she was sitting with an elderly gentleman for a few days and *she* made some lovies for the Christmas Child shoeboxes for me. I had to weave in all the ends, but since I don't mind that job, it was all good. Now we have a nice stack of lovies. Yes!

ReplyDeleteAnyway - I have just finished my mood blanket that I've been working on the last 9 months or so. I wanted my oldest son to have it and his birthday is Friday so I've been working like crazy on it the last few weeks. Finished yesterday, wove in the remaining tails today, and boxed it up. Its now on its way to him. YAY! ALL of the yarn was scrap/stash yarn for a total of 3153 grams. That's one big, warm, colorful blanket.
Congratulations on finishing the blanket Karla, you son will love it I'm sure. you are updated. :)

ReplyDeleteGood morning (in Oregon anyway) Linda and happy December 1st. :D While I did manage to get lots of crocheting done in November, it was lots of little projects and the totals don't add up so quickly. November's stash bust is only 306. It is nice to have many of those odd balls disappearing I must say.
ReplyDeleteSon #1 loves his blanket and son #2 has asked for something similar. Of course, son #1 had no idea I was making it for him and watched me work on it now and then all summer long, but son #2 has a color scheme in mind. So I went shopping and yes, BOUGHT some yarn for his blanket. I also pullled out 5 skeins from the stash, so when its done it will be a mix of stash and intentionally amassed yarn. The goal is Christmas. Ha. Will see.

DeleteStopping in, a little late, to give you my December total of 863g busted. I want to join in again next year but will have to reweigh the stash since my mother gave me quite a bit and then in December I "inherited" my ex-daughter-in-law's stash that she left behind in NY and my son hauled to Oregon. Much of it is wool and I'm allergic, but I'll find a way to pass it along so for now I'm going to weigh it all in and see what happens.
ReplyDeleteI just finished weighing my stash and I think I'm close to where I started last year. My 2015 starting stash weighs 16,670 g. I left the wool out because I think I'm either going to sell it or give it away to a local gal. So I guess I have my work cut out for me, hmmm?? lol
