Strawberries, Cream and Cupcakes.

No not a foodie post just a luscious little cardi made for a sweet little girl...

I'm so glad that I managed to get it finished in time to put into the box destined for knit for nowt and I hope that some little girl is going to love it and feel nice and warm while wearing it this winter.

As you know I like simple easy designs and this one certainly is that, I have used this pattern before here. Made in treble crochet (double treble US) it grows in no time.  The worst part for me as always is the sewing up and the careful placement of the buttonholes, I always get it wrong and have to do it again but this time I got it right first time which is just as well as I had little time to spare.
Stats
This is a 26 inch chest size and should fit a 5-7 year old.
It took 250 grams of yarn, I used Stylecraft Special Aran in colours lipstick and cream.
You can find the pattern here
The cupcake pattern can be found here

Success!

Another little set all complete...

Made with woolcraft Aran yarn which I had in my stash and .....

once again I used Marianna's lovely Skye pattern which can be found here

The scarf was crocheted using front edge htr/hdc which gives a knitted look and a nice cosy rib like finish. I can't believe that it's over three years since I last made some of these you can see my previous makes here along with the pattern link.

I have really enjoyed making these little sets and to be quite honest I could go on making them forever but I have restricted myself to making four this time because I must move on to something else and these need to be sent away to Knit for nowt so that they can be handed out to needy children at their Christmas party, I am frantically trying to complete a little cardigan so it can also placed into the box before it's sent off.

My lovely friends at NELH have been busy making some too....

So that's nine altogether along with..
16 baby hats
6 newborn baby tops
3 toddler tops
7 kids hats
2 scarves
1 blanket
and a cardigan if I get it finished, I will I must!:)

Happy Thanksgiving to all my lovely friends who are celebrating!

I will be around to visit you all hopefully this weekend but right now I have a cardy to finish and a box to pack. xxx

One More to Go!

Well it's been quite a week, it's that time of year when everything seems to accelerate and you don't seem to have the time to fit everything in.  It was my Birthday last Friday and that took me away from my crocheting/knitting in a very nice way of course while family and friends came to celebrate with me.

I'm also having to work extra shifts at work because my colleague is on holiday however I have still managed to make set number three....

This time made in crochet, I chose this pattern because I have used it before and I could remember how quickly it worked up and how easy it was. You can find the pattern here.

The mittens are knitted and I used Marianna's pattern here

I love crochet because it's fast but I prefer the finish of knitted hats and mittens, they stretch and give a nice cosy fit.

Only one more week to go before I need to get these sent to knit for nowt and I still have one more girly set to make and then I will have made two of each.

I doesn't end there either because knit for nowt has sent out yet another appeal they are asking for cardigans or jumpers for little girls, if possible in time for Christmas but because my box is going off at the end of next week I would have to make something before then, so do you think it's possible for me to make..
one hat
one pair of mittens
one scarf
one cardigan
before next Thursday? of course thats on top of going to work and the other million things that need doing Christmas is coming after all.

I will try!!:)

I'm so sorry I haven't had time to visit your blogs but thank you so much for all the lovely comments and words of encouragement, I will be around to see you all as soon as I can, I hope that you are all well and have a great week! :) xxx

A Set for the girls

It looks as though the making of these little sets is going to take me longer than I thought it would, it's definitely the scarves that take up the time the hat and mittens take no time at all.

This time a little girl set made with stash Aran yarn in pink, white and grey. Again I used Marianna's Skye pattern which can be found here

I knitted the scarf too and it took me far longer than I wanted it to, made in a very easy garter stitch. Using the same colour sequence and then bordered in crochet with reversed dc/sc in pink to hide all the yarn changes and to neaten it off.

Next time it will be crochet just because it's quicker, I'm hoping to get four sets done before the end of the month so that they can be sent to knit for nowt.

Two down
                                                                                                 and two to go

Can I do it?

I hope that you are all having a great week :)

Yarn Along

The Greg Mystery CAL continues with part five Bob

What I love about this CAL is it's in small parts so you don't feel too overwhelmed as it leaves you plenty of time to get on with other projects.

Bob is one of four large squares and we are making him a few rounds at a time so here's rounds 1-7 just one more round to go for this week..

I don't feel too guilty about leaving the charity knitting to make one of these a night so one down and three to go, part two of Bob will be out on the 16th November.

I'm really enjoying this Cal you can read all about it here

I finished reading this book last week, it's about a very mixed up girl who had a very traumatic experience in her childhood which has affected her whole life, she refuses to deal with what happened and it's left her very disturbed.  I read the book but I didn't really enjoy it that much, some of the story seems just a bit far fetched to me and the print was tiny so I could only read a few pages at a time.
Now I'm catching up on magazines but I'm hoping to take a trip to the library for the first time in ages to see if there's anything I fancy reading tomorrow.

I'm joining in with Ginny's Yarn along and Jennifer's Winter Project Link Party, why don't you pop along and see what everyone else has been making and reading. :)
