It was my little grandsons third birthday last Monday and I was looking back at the post I did of when he was born back here, where does the time go! I realised that I hadn't followed up on the blanket I had started at that time.
This was a very interesting blanket to make as it's crocheted from the centre out and each section was worked in a different crochet stitch.
I think it's one of the most striking blankets I have made and I love everything about it. I have this blanket folded at the foot of my bed ready to pull up if the night is especially chilly.
It's been quite a busy week, starting with my Grandsons Birthday, not that we could really celebrate but I saw him on video chat opening his presents, my son sent this the evening before, he had lots of lovely surprises when he got up the next morning...
Then I discovered my bathroom radiator was leaking and had to call the plumber, he can't fix it until next week so I have a dish underneath it to catch the drops and that's standing on top of a towel, luckily he managed to stem most of the flow. I don't want a repeat of this!
My brother's phone broke, he needs a phone at all times as he has MS and was expecting a call from his consultant amongst other things. All the phone shops are closed because of covid, so we had to buy a new phone, get a new SIM and transfer the old number to the new SIM. It took days to get it sorted and you know what it's like with a new phone you have to set it up, transfer contacts, well I won't go into details but honestly I could write a book!
My left hearing aid has been switching itself on and off while I'm wearing it, for those who don't wear hearing aids, every time it switches on a little bell rings three times, can you imagine what it's like! Anyway I was lucky to get an appointment at Audiology they gave me a new aid but that one was buzzing while I wore it, I went back the next day and they changed it but it's still buzzing. I have to wait to the end of the month before I can get an appointment to see an Audiologist so I'm having to make do with just one hearing aid, thank goodness I'm not meeting up with many people.
On a more happy note I got my corona vaccine yesterday, my GP rang me the day before so I cancelled the appointment at the vaccine centre 10 miles away and had it at the GP surgery. No side affects so far although I'm beginning to feel a little dizzy and light headed, could be my imagination time will tell, I'm just glad that I've had it.
I've had very little time for crafting this week but this weekend I plan to fill this bowl with fruit....
and maybe paint more stones...
Thank you all your lovely comments about my rocks, painting them is honestly keeping me sane.π
For all you Mums that are celebrating
Your blanket is beautiful, such a gorgeous colour and a striking design. I bet it keeps you nice and warm. It's such a shame being parted from our loved ones on their birthday, especially the little ones. Thank goodness for technology, I know it's not the same but at least it's something. It sounds like you've had a week of it, I do hope you manage to get the hearing aid sorted out soon, that must be so annoying, and that you get the radiator sorted out too. Glad you got your vaccine, I've just had a text today asking me to book mine so they must be cracking on with them, I'm 52 and wasn't expecting the invitation quite yet.
ReplyDeleteYou made such a pretty blanket and I love the stitching and the colors. Happy B day to your grandson. I hope you can get your bathroom fixed and same for the hearing aid. Congrats on getting the vaccine Linda. Hope you have a nice weekend.

Good news you have your vaccine, we are on a list and waiting for a call, probably April sometime. That blanket is gorgeous, very striking with the pattern and colours. My goodness, Mikey is 3 already, seems like he just arrived in the world. We finally saw the grandkids and family yesterday, it has been ages, end of October was a distanced visit the last time for granddaughters birthday. It was a wonderful birthday treat for me. Spring weather is teasing us, and our clocks change this weekend. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteSuch great news about the vaccine. I am so glad you got it, I got my first dose this past week. I was just so thrilled to be on my way to some immunity. Love the blanket. hope you can get the hearing aide sorted out soon. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteLinda, your blanket is truly a work of art! How gorgeous the pattern. I cannot imagine crocheting such a pattern. Looks lovely wherever you place it. Thank goodness the leak has been stemmed. I read your post re 'the flood'....gosh what a horrendous ordeal! Hoping the audiologist can work out what is wrong with the hearing aids. Happy Birthday to your grandson. I can just imagine his face when he woke up and saw all his surprises. How wonderful! Hopefully, next year, you will be able to celebrate with him in person.
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is amazing!! So pretty! Happy Birthday to your grandson! Time is truly flying, isn’t it? I hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you have had the vaccine. Thank goodness for technology that allows us to see each other during this pandemic. What a beautiful blanket...a crochet sampler!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty blanket!
ReplyDeleteYour blanket is gorgeous! Amazing stitch work in that! Glad to hear you have a vaccine... stay well!
ReplyDeleteYour crocheted blanket is stunning I love the colorway and those stitches have me thinking about making one. Love the painted rock, and the cross stitch piece is beautiful. Hope your grandson had a lovely birthday.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blanket. Hope all the issues work out. I had to call out someone because my roof was showing signs of leaking. It ended up being one of the solar panels was not sealed properly anymore. So before I could get a roofer to come out, I needed the solar guys to fix that problem! Still waiting for the roofer to come back.
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning blanket. Love the colors and stitches.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know you got the vaccine. Uh-hu!!!!
What a time you have had with breakage and faulty appliances. Your blanket is amazing, the colours certainly glow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous blanket. So sorry to hear about the radiator and the hearing aide. My mom has new hearing aides that are using batteries like crazy. I have to call her audiologist tomorrow. It is so hard to buy replacements of anything during lockdowns. I can't imagine trying to replace a phone on my own. Take care. Enjoy your stitching and rock painting.
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is beautiful, I do like the colourway.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely lot of birthday presents.
Pleased that you were able to have your vaccination.
Take care, enjoy the new week ahead.
All the best Jan
PS Happy Mothers Day Wishes.
That is a gorgeous blanket! The colors you made yours in are stunning. I sure hope you get everything working soon. How irritating the hearing aid situation sounds. No pun intended. Glad you got a vaccine. I get my second Pfizer one in a week. Sure makes looking ahead to spring and summer an even happier thought.
