I have found a free crochet version on youtube here. I intend to make this and show it to my crochet group because it's an easy project for them to make.
I have found a nice squishy ball of DK yarn in my stash, I have no idea which brand it is because the label has long since vanished and I have made a start...
I will show you the finished article once it's done.

These need to be gifted for his birthday end of February, I have reached the heel flap on one and have started the second sock as you can see, I always make a pair of socks together otherwise the second sock would never materialise. Since starting these I have been asked to make socks for some of the members of my Lip Reading group so I have been taking foot measurements and asking them for colour preferences, I have told them it may take a while but I will get around to it sometime. 😊
Baby Onsie for Grandson number three due at the end of February too....
I have a third WIP on the go only to be disclosed after it has been completed and gifted and then we have the year of woodland blossoms embroidery, the January segment has been completed ....
Once again we are expecting a storm here with gale force winds so I intend to stay snug inside and crochet my Sophie scarf. What are your plans for the day? whatever they are I wish you all a peaceful and relaxing happy Sunday. 😘😘

ReplyDeleteI have not heard of a Sophie scarf; it does sound intriguing. Kevin's socks are fabulous, Linda. The red and grey stripes look terrific. I don't wonder you have orders to knit some more. That is a lovely stitch on your grandson's onsie. How exciting that a new grandbaby will soon be born. The January segment of your Woodland Blossoms embroidery is lovely. With the weather you are having cosying down inside, with some crocheting or knitting sounds like a fabulous idea.

It's good to have a few things on the go so that you're able to pick up whichever you fancy working on. It's also good to have deadlines on some of them so that it encourages you to get on with it, haha. What a pretty embroidery, I look forward to seeing that at the end of the year. I hope you haven't suffered any damage to your property in the storm, it's still blowing a gale here but at least it's warmed up a little from last week.

There is nothing nicer than hand knitted wool socks! I always knit two together, easy as I knit flat socks on two needles with a seam up the side.
ReplyDeleteI used to make and wear skinny scarves all the time. The Sophie Scarf has been popular for awhile. Thanks for sharing the crochet version (since I don't knit). I'll likely make some just because it's easy and I have yarn that needs to be used up. Although there are other things I want to make that would require buying new yarn, I'm really trying not to do that. Actually haven't crocheted in over a month. Mostly been cross-stitching lately, Palestinian embroidery patterns as I pray for Gaza and the Palestinian people.
ReplyDeleteI'm always impressed by your socks. Not only can you MAKE them, but you usually use more than one colour - even if it is only in stripes! I will look forward to seeing the embroidery progress. I keep thinking I will dig out my Staithes one but somehow it never happens...
