If you remember at the end of January I resurrected this partly finished blanket which was started back in 1012 read here I was determined to do something with it and after putting it together as best I can, I have decided that this is as far as I can go with it.
I have managed to include all the original squares from the CAL apart from an oblong square which I plan to use as the center for another blanket and although it's smaller than I planned it is plenty big enough for someone to use as a lapghan. I did start to make more squares but I think that I'll use those in another blanket somewhere down the line.
I'm so pleased with how it's turned out even though it looks nothing like it should do, some of you clever people can make different sized squares into a lovely blanket but not me I'm afraid.
I cheated by making all the squares the same size and then joined them around the inner rectangle. I'm glad that I can draw a line under this and send it on to someone who can make use of it I'm hoping that all the pretty squares will give someone some cheer and warmth.
Speaking of cheer and warmth I am so sick of the cold weather, we had snow and bitterly cold winds over the weekend, in an effort to feel more Spring like I have changed my header from the previous snow scene to this one of daffodils which are flowering their pretty socks off in my garden at the moment even the snow hasn't deterred them.
Have a great week.😊

What a beauty, Linda! ♥ The blanket is really great and I like the way you arranged the different squares. White is a nice fresh background. A lot of colorful happiness & love to keep someone warm!
ReplyDeleteYour new header is very pretty, I'm soo waiting for spring, too! We could already catch a glimpse on it but then the ugly snow came back. I have some colorful tulips on my table and some yellow knitting, hopefully they will draw spring out together with your daffodils :-). A wonderful week for you, too! xxx
I love how you've finished it. I would never be so imaginative.
ReplyDeleteLike you I'm definitely ready for some Spring weather now. It is dry and sunny here today, but incredibly cold. Love the new header. X
I think it looks fabulous and someone will be thrilled to receive it as a gift. Many congratulations on the birth of your grandson.
ReplyDeleteHello Linda, I do like your header and a reminder that spring will arrive hopefully soon. We are expecting rain and snow for Wednesday and I too am wondering when we will have spring weather. I love the crocheted granny square blanket you made. I know someone will love using it.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week and happy spring. Thanks for sharing this at our Cooking and Crafting with J & J.

Looks good
ReplyDeleteThat's a clever idea to make all the squares the same size, but because of the different colors there's the illusion they are different. It's a beautiful and cozy blanket. I'm sure it will be greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI love the new header of your blog! So pretty and cheerful!
I don't know why Winter always seems to stick around longer than we want it to. I hope you get warm sunny days soon. The blanket came together good. Looks like it's a good size to throw on the back of a rocking chair to throw on if it gets chilly. It's pretty too.

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet so to speak and it must feel great to have this blanket out of the WIP basket! I think it will be a lovely gift for somebody and blankets should be of various sizes for various uses!!! I don't think your spring will be far away as we are getting darker days here now and the mornings quite cool!
ReplyDeleteLike the sunny daffodils!
ReplyDeleteOur weekend also was terribly cold, snow and very windy.
Love your beautiful blanket.♥
Lovely header you have! And a lovely blanket you made, somebody will be very happy with this one!
ReplyDeleteYou have made a lovely, colorful blanket. It'll certainly cheer someone up. Beautiful header!
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice patchwork blanket, Linda! Well done on finishing it! Your header flowers are beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteDear Linda, I think you did a marvellous job. Joining grannies of different sizes sure isn't my cup of tea either and I'm pretty sure I never would have finished the blanket at all! Well done!
ReplyDeleteI noticed you'd changed your header to daffodils. Please let it bring us some good weather!
ReplyDeleteYour blanket turned out beautiful. I started that CAL but never finished. I had a terrible time joining the squares. I can't believe that was 2012!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful. I have trouble with projects that require joining. I make most of my blankets in one piece for that reason. I give you lots of credit for getting it done.
ReplyDeleteI like the way you seem to break the mold with this blanket. And it is finished! Very well done! Stay warm.

You've done a marvelous job with the blanket Linda! It looks really nice, and reminds me of a sampler blanket with all the different square patterns. The colours all go together nicely, so it looks as it should, bright and cheery ;) Sometimes it's agony pulling an old WIP out, but you tackled that blanket very well. I admit that I put a few WIP in the goodwill pile sometime back. I just couldn't see myself ever getting back to them, so I sent them out the door. (shhhhhh!) ha ha
ReplyDeleteI hope it warms up for you soon. We haven't had any snow for many weeks now, and no rain either, but the temps are hovering around 0C each day. No flowers in my gardens yet, but hopefully next month.
Happy Easter my friend!
Wendy
wow...thats a lovely blanket
ReplyDeleteOh, I think you are much too hard on yourself, Linda. This blanket is beautiful. I love all the different crochet pieces included and the original pattern. It is rather amazing you know. =)
