A sweet little pinafore dress.
It was another one of those.... I just have to make that! moments, when everything else gets flung to one side and you scrabble amongst your stash hoping to find just the right yarn for it and then when you do it's... will there be enough?
Well no there wasn't but thankfully one of my friends had exactly the same yarn and gave me more than enough to complete it. :)
This was made with a graph pattern without any written instructions but I found it very easy to follow. I used Dk yarn with a lurex thread running through it so it's got a sparkle and gives the dress a party feel.
If you look close you can see the sparkle, add a Lucy flower and make it complete.
All I need now is a little granddaughter. :)
Stats
Made with Dk yarn it took 180 grams
4mm hook
It measures
chest 26"
length 19"

Well, isn't that the sweetest little dress, Linda, and so fortunate that your friend had the same yarn! I really love making things suitable for little girls too but no grand-daughters and no chance now either - I'll have to wait and hope for great-grand-daughters and that'll be a long wait yet! I do love my grandsons to bits but they won't wear dresses even to please Nana :) Have a lovely day, xoJoy
ReplyDeleteAww, so cute! xx

ReplyDeleteHave a nice day !
Anna
What a sweet little dress! It's a good thing your friends have the same eye for yarn as you do to help you out in a pinch ;) Happy days! Wendy x

Sweet, sweet, sweet! Love the color and love that your friend could help make it happen. :-)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute, Linda! I have many "I have to make that right now!" moments, too. I love the sparkly yarn you used, and the color's pretty. I'm still new at reading charts so that one's past my expertise. Some day. For now, I can look at your pretty creation. Take care :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, Linda. It's so sweet. I wonder if I could make it a little longer for my daughter. I think chest size would work because she's small for her age. You did a great job, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love that little dress - it's very pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful drees,so sweet!!!
ReplyDeleteGreeting.:)
Aww! So sweet! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen you get your grandkids, there will be no stopping you!! I'd be the same, though I think it will be years away for me yet.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty little dress, Linda. And the sparkle really adds to the glamour!
ReplyDeleteThat little dress is adorable. Yes, I know how it is to want to jump right in and make something right now, also the sinking feeling that you may not have enough yarn to finish it. Thank goodness for friends who help us out in a pinch. The lucky little one who gets that dress is going to be the prettiest gal at the party. Thank you for coming to visit me. I love that you made a couple suggestions on what to do with the scraps, the stuffing toys and hearts is a great idea. I also think we could use scraps for stuffing pin cushions as well. Hope your week is going good for you.
