Under The Weather

Hello all you lovely people, I hope that you have had a great week! Unfortunately mine has been awful, it all started last Saturday night when I became quite ill, I won't bore you will all the details but I was in severe pain and it kind of went downhill from there.

I have been probed, prodded and stabbed with several needles and apparently the best is yet to come in the form of a gastroscopy and MRI scan culminating in maybe two lots of surgery a cholecystectomy and a fundoplication .

I have spent hours of my time this past week waiting around... for tests, then test results and then for Doctors to see the test results so very frustrating, and what I find even more frustrating is that you never see the same doctor twice, each one takes a detailed history and writes it down and examines you and then writes his findings down can't he read what the previous doctor has written!!

I am now in the process of preparing a fact sheet of all my medical history and list of medications, I'll make several copies and just hand them out as soon as they say what medications are you taking?

I am waiting for appointments for the scans so if you don't hear from me for days at a time you'll know why.

Rant over and thank you for listening and if any of you have had any experience of the above operations I would love to hear your experiences.

I'm also annoyed because it took me away from my crafting, but I did manage to do this weeks Mini rings of change

This week we worked rows 20 - 25
Using Stylecraft special chunky...
Row 20 -  I used shade 1061 plum
Rows 21-25 I used shade 1023 raspberry

The mini rings cal is hosted by Kate you can read all about it and see everyones progress here

Have you heard about the Mystery Afghan CAL which is going to be hosted by Mikey from the Crochet Crowd? it's starting on February 10th and you can read all about it here

I would love to join in but I don't have the time I will be watching it as it unfolds with interest please let me know if you are joining in so that I can watch your progress.

Speaking of watching with interest I am also watching Sophies Universe CAL, are any of you following that one there are some beautiful pieces of work developing over on facebook see for yourself here.

I saw this on Facebook and had to share, I needed a bit of a laugh this week just to lighten the gloom what's your crochet name....

My crochet name is Snood Bootie what's yours ?

Because of all my adventures last weekend I didn't get to do any of what I had planned so this weekend I'm gonna make those healthy snack bars maybe if I'd gotten to eat one I would have been ok haha.

What are you all up to? :)

Have a great weekend!

  2. So sorry to hear that you have not been well Linda. I don't know much about these things, but I think that Mamasmercantile recently had similar issues so you might like to get in touch with her. I hope that it can all be resolved quickly and easily and that you make a swift and good recovery. Look after yourself won't you. Hugs. xx

  6. I hope everything works out OK Linda. Maybe the doctors could all gather for a knit-along and discuss your tummy troubles over yarn and coffee. We get the same run around here. You go to the GP, then the specialist, then the x-rays or whatever, then back to the specialist and then back to the GP. By the time they've finished all examinations, you're all better and they wonder why you are in their office at all.

Your crochet looks gorgeous!! I just love these colours together. I'm sorry you've not been able to get to your crafting this week though. Get lots of rest and I hope you'll be back real soon. Wendy x

  8. Thinking of you Linda, navigating the potholes of appointmentland! Hope things are sorted soon and you begin to feel a lot better. Waiting is such a frustration. Great idea to put all your information down in one place to avoid repeating yourself!

  12. Sorry to hear of your health problems. I hope you get a proper diagnosis and treatment soon. I had a cholecystectomy 16 years ago. It was a laparoscopic (keyhole) procedure, one night in hospital and I was up and about within a day or so. It was done because I had gallstones. At the time they found I had another liver complaint but that's another story! I recovered quickly from the op - even drove
from Aberdeen to London the following week!

  13. Oh Linda so sorry for the stomach problems, My sister had the Fundoplication surgery a few years ago after years of reflux issues, it has changed her life for the better, although I have heard it can be a bit tricky, but for her it was wonderful and she healed very well.
Your cal is coming along so well love your colour choices, I caught up yesterday. I have abandoned the Moogly cal as I didn't really like the squares (I think it was my colour choices or that I saw Sophies Cal and fell in love and I have some similar colours in my stash albeit wool. Does having to buy some extra wool for a project disqualify you from your stashbuster linkies. I would say I have about 80% of the wool that I need, just have to buy a couple of extra colours. My crochet name is "Knit Yarn Hog'!

  20. So sorry Linda to hear of your health issues. I'm not familiar with either of those procedures. Waiting around is certainly frustrating. Hope all is sorted out soon. Apparently I'm a Small Hooker. Ha! Best wishes, Tammy

  21. Oh Linda, it all sounds dreadful. I'm so sorry you've been in pain and had to ride the medical merry-go-round. Good luck with your doctors and the procedures.

Your CAL is looking more beautiful with every round.
