The New Year, Resolutions Anyone?

So what are everyone's plans for 2017 have you made any resolutions? There's something about the beginning of a new year that make folk determine that this year is going to be better. It's good to have these positive thoughts because after all the planning and preparation of Christmas and New Year suddenly there's nothing just a dreary dark January to look forward to.

I don't usually make resolutions because I know for a fact that they will fall by the wayside and then I'll feel bad for not keeping them. This year is a strange one for me because things have changed, I no longer have to go to work.  I can't tell you just how odd that feels, although those of you who have retired will know exactly what I mean.  Although I only worked part time my life sort of revolved round those working days, I got things done today because I knew that I had work tomorrow.

I now have to prepare my home for the onslaught of various workmen who are going to repair the flood damage after my burst pipe in December, I think that they are going to start the work next week I may have to move out until it's done, place yet to be determined.

So things are rather up in the air right now, I will resolve to declutter once the house is back to normal that's one resolution I always make and never keep, along with the I will not buy any yarn until I've bust my stash, I always mean it at the time.😊

I have started and completed a sweater for myself over the holidays this was the start of it....

More details as soon as I take some photo's.

Hope you all have a great week!

  2. Love the colour of the sweater! We are currently waiting for our house to sell to make a big interstate move & then hubbies will retire and I will reduce my days of work - so big changes at some point for us as well. Good luck with those repairs, and once all that is over I am sure you will find your days will quickly be filled

  3. It's much easier arranging for workmen etc when you don't have to juggle it with going to work. There are lots of advantages to enforced leisure. I like your wool. I'm knitting with something similar at the moment. It brightens up the dreary days.

  5. This New Year will be full of changes for all of us I am afraid. I think you should pack up and go to the sea for a few weeks, with lots of yarn of course.

  8. Wonderful sneak-peak, Linda! Looking forward to seing the finished sweater :-). Wishing you good luck that your home will be repaired quickly. About resolutions, I've made none to speak of. As you said, normally they wouldn't be realized anyway. O.k., maybe one little thing: I want to finish some of my old WIPs this year ;-). All the best! Nata xxx

  10. I don't really make resolutions but I try to keep some things in mind to work on. They're pretty much the same every year: eat better, exercise more, be nicer and more positive in my thinking and behavior. I think I have success sometimes, but on the whole, I probably don't change enough so I know I need to keep working on it. I hope all goes well with your repairs. Take care and enjoy the knitting, it's looking great so far.

  11. It's going to be a lovely bright sweater as I see.Good luck with your home repair. We are planning the redecoration of my daughter's bedroom. She just began her studies at the University and wish to give a more adult look to her room: color changes, lamp, curtains ... all that. All this mess will begin right at the end of this month of January. So I hope I can crochet a lot before that. I wish you a wonderful New Year ahead! xxx

  14. I love the wool you've used for that sweater, Linda. I'm sure you'll enjoy retirement once you have relaxed into it. Good luck with all the repairs; we have builders replacing a flat roof over one of our bedrooms as I type this, as we found that rain was getting in over the Christmas holiday. More redecorating of the bedroom and the stairs once it has all dried out!
