A Special Weekend

Hello all you lovely people I have just come back from fantastic weekend away, a birthday treat from 3 of my lovely friends.  We went to visit Grassington which is a picturesque little village situated in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales here in England.

Each year Grassington holds a Dickensian Festival, this year was the 31st  celebrating Charles Dickens bicentenary.  It was amazing to see how the whole village throws themselves heart and soul into to making this a memorable event.  Visitors come from all over England and the cobbled streets are packed, the atmosphere is light-hearted and festive, even though it was bitterly cold everyone seemed to be enjoying the antics of the villagers dressed in period costume and enacting scenes from the Dickensian era. There was a traditional Christmas market selling festive treats, street entertainment, shoe shine boys, chestnut sellers, and best of all lovely mulled wine and mince pies to enjoy while standing around the glowing embers of a fire.

Fabulous street dancers.

This troupe entertained us with traditional Christmas carols, dancing and acting, great fun!

This was hilarious and had everyone rolling around with laughter.

Poor Oliver Twist in trouble again.

I hope you all had a great weekend, I have been trying to catch up with all your lovely blogs and have discovered that Shari over at Lauren's Closet is hosting a  great Giveaway, do pop over and visit her beautiful blog.

Have a great week! xx
