Baby Throw

I loved the textured look of this pattern and just needed to make it as soon as I saw it. Do you have that compulsion sometimes? I know we see patterns we like all the time and they go on the to do list, but every now and again, I see something and it just has to be done there and then.

and when I did start it, it was like revisiting an old friend.  I have done this stitch before many times but in a finer yarn and so didn't make the connection right away.

This time I used Aran weight in peppermint and because I had no Aran in lemon but an awful lot of double knit, I combined the lemon Dk with cream 3ply and the resulting colour was a pale creamy yellow which looks lovely in real life but the photo's are dull and you can't really tell.

The pattern consists of nine blocks which are sewn together but I made mine in three strips of three which I think gives a much better finish and of course there is less sewing up to do.

 I love this texture

There's no edging on the actual pattern but I felt it looked unfinished and so I did a round of sc/dc in peppermint and then a round of the actual pattern stitch in lemon and I like it.

So does Florence ;)

You can find the pattern here ( it's a lion brand pattern and you will need to register or sign in)

  2. Good morning Linda, this a beautiful stitch and I will certainly be looking it up. What a great idea combining the two weights of yarn to make the lemon pieces match the weight of the peppermint yarn. It is a cute blanket and I love it :-)

  5. This is a great textured stitch for the blanket ... I think the lemony colour came up in the last photo with Florence. I know what you mean when you see a certain stitch. I have a book with just stitch patterns in it, and that's where I saw the "scroll" stitch and just knew it would look good for that scarf I made for my daughter. It was really fun to see it work up too. Love that last photo of the cupcake scarf! Thanks for the links Linda :) Wendy x

  7. Love it - the pattern stitch is very similar to the one I'm using for Bobby's red scarf I'm working on now. Takes forever for the rows to grow though. Have a great day. :)

  12. What a beautiful blanket, Linda! The colors are like sea & sand, only in pastel ;-). I like that pattern very much, too, thanks for the links! I could imagine that dish/wash/face cloths or towels would also look great with it. Have a nice evening! Nata

  13. I think Florence loves it and wants to keep it all for herself. Sheep can be like that.

    The blanket is lovely.
