I loved the textured look of this pattern and just needed to make it as soon as I saw it. Do you have that compulsion sometimes? I know we see patterns we like all the time and they go on the to do list, but every now and again, I see something and it just has to be done there and then.
This time I used Aran weight in peppermint and because I had no Aran in lemon but an awful lot of double knit, I combined the lemon Dk with cream 3ply and the resulting colour was a pale creamy yellow which looks lovely in real life but the photo's are dull and you can't really tell.
The pattern consists of nine blocks which are sewn together but I made mine in three strips of three which I think gives a much better finish and of course there is less sewing up to do.
I love this texture
There's no edging on the actual pattern but I felt it looked unfinished and so I did a round of sc/dc in peppermint and then a round of the actual pattern stitch in lemon and I like it.
So does Florence ;)
You can find the pattern here ( it's a lion brand pattern and you will need to register or sign in)
307 grams of yarn busted.
Other things I have made with this stitch, just click on the titles to find the pattern.
and when I did start it, it was like revisiting an old friend. I have done this stitch before many times but in a finer yarn and so didn't make the connection right away.

What a lovely blanket Linda, You're tempting me to have a go, again!
ReplyDeleteDo try it Julie you will like it. :)
DeleteGood morning Linda, this a beautiful stitch and I will certainly be looking it up. What a great idea combining the two weights of yarn to make the lemon pieces match the weight of the peppermint yarn. It is a cute blanket and I love it :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, yes I often combine the different plys or the finer ones would never get used,:)
DeleteAh very cute. Love the plain cream one too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, yes that was a lovely blanket to make too. :)
DeleteI like the look of that stitch Linda, it gives it a lovely texture doesn't it, I can see why you were drawn to it. You really are doing a lot of stash busting. Well done!! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy, :)
DeleteThis is a great textured stitch for the blanket ... I think the lemony colour came up in the last photo with Florence. I know what you mean when you see a certain stitch. I have a book with just stitch patterns in it, and that's where I saw the "scroll" stitch and just knew it would look good for that scarf I made for my daughter. It was really fun to see it work up too. Love that last photo of the cupcake scarf! Thanks for the links Linda :) Wendy x
ReplyDeleteYes that scarf was lovely Wendy, the cup cake scarf was lovely to make too, I think I will be making another very soon. :)
DeleteLinda te ha quedado muy bonito. Se aprecia que tiene una textura como muy esponjosa, muy agradable al tacto. Me gusta mucho.
ReplyDeleteQue tengas una feliz semana
Un beso

Thank you, yes the texture is lovely and soft. :)
DeleteLove it - the pattern stitch is very similar to the one I'm using for Bobby's red scarf I'm working on now. Takes forever for the rows to grow though. Have a great day. :)
ReplyDeleteThis one worked up quite quickly Debi, :)
DeleteIt's beautiful :-) I like the look of that stitch; I've made the Bubbles blanket before and marveled at how quickly it worked up and how nice the texture was. Great stashbusting!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kate. :)

ReplyDeleteHaha you are funny Una, I never thought of that. :)

DeleteOooo, yes I like that stitch too. Nice blanket indeed! Compulsive? What's that? ;-)
ReplyDeleteHaha, thank you Astri :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful blanket, Linda! The colors are like sea & sand, only in pastel ;-). I like that pattern very much, too, thanks for the links! I could imagine that dish/wash/face cloths or towels would also look great with it. Have a nice evening! Nata
ReplyDeleteThank you Nata, yes that texture would be perfect for dish/wash cloths. :)
DeleteI think Florence loves it and wants to keep it all for herself. Sheep can be like that.
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is lovely.
Hugs,
Meredith
