Motifs #140 and # 27

Motif #140
This motif can be quite awkward to make as there are so many increases but it is worth it because it's lovely when it's finished.  The picture doesn't do it justice, this little flower can be made as big or as small as you like and can be used for all kinds of things.  I have made mine on the small side because I wanted to use it as part of a little centre piece.

Motif #27

This one is so cute and easy to make but it had me fooled, I thought I could join these together by the picots, so I made a few and tried to join them but there are 8 picots so it doesn't work out unless you want big spaces.  If you want to join these little cuties and you have got to admit they are cute, you need to combine them with another motif, as shown on page 197 of the book (bottom right) now why didn't I look there first lol, I may do this for a future project its a definite maybe.  In the meantime I have combined these two motifs together to  make a little centrepiece.

In Memory of a Friend

It's a while since I knitted anything because I find that I prefer crochet, however I have dug out the knitting needles for the following project and I find I am quite enjoying it.  Maybe it's good to have a break from things now and again.
Sadly one of our lovely Loving Hands members passed away last year, we new her as Mayflower and she was an inspiration to us all.  Not only did she turn out many beautiful items she also shared her knitting patterns with us. As a tribute to Mayflower part of the Spring Challenges is for us to make 1000 items from her patterns.  This is will be a pleasure for us to do because her patterns are very simple and easy to follow.
Unfortunately I can't share the patterns with you because they are for Loving Hands members only, but I will be showing you the finished items as I make them.  I intend to do at least one item of each of her patterns which are all knitted and are mostly for babies and Preemies.

Mayflowers Wee Cardigan

I have made this one before it's a lovely pattern to make and as simple as can be.

Motif #95

This one is nice quick and easy and of course could be used for all sorts of things.  It's a nice size too, mine measures 4''x4'' and it's made in cotton DK.  This one has already been put to good use as a coaster for my coffee cup :)

African Flower Doily

I just discovered the African Flower motif last year and fell in love with it straight away, I went crazy at that time I just couldn't stop making them, however I only had a limited amount of the cotton yarn I was using and as it was stash yarn I couldn't really buy any more to add to it.  I had no idea what I was going to do with the motifs once I had made them but I was quite happy making one after the other trying out all the possible colour combinations with the limited amount of yarn I had.  Eventually I did get sick of making them and they were pushed into a bag and put away out of sight.  It was only when the doily on my coffee table eventually dropped to pieces and needed replacing that I remembered these little beauties, when I unearthed them I fell in love with them all over again.  So I have joined some of them together to make this doily and there are still enough to make a matching one for my dinning table.  I love it and the good thing is I can sit and gaze at it everyday while I drink my coffee :)

and here it is sitting quite happily on my coffee table.

I have just popped over to Marinke (Wink) at acreativebeing and discovered that she too has awarded me with the versatile blogger award, wow! nothing at all then two in one week, thank you so much for this I am thrilled and so happy that you like my blog.
I have no intention of boring you all with more facts about myself or finding another 15 blogs to pass this on to as I only did this yesterday, however if any of you feel that you deserve this award and have been overlooked, please leave me a comment and I will visit your blog and see for myself.
Hope you are all having a great weekend :)

Ive got an award!

A big thank you to Barbara over in Made in K Town for giving me this award, it's my first and I'm very honoured and touched to have received it.
Now I have to give you 7 random facts about myself

1.  I have just started with the latest fitness craze Bokwa, google it and check it out, it's    fantastic, I like it even more than Zumba.
2. I am a total chocoholic! hence the need for fitness classes lol
3. I hate driving and will only drive when I really have to.
4. I lived in Syria for 19 years.  I am so pleased that I'm not living there now.
5. I'm dreading my next birthday the big 60 ahhh!
6. I am really useless with all technical things, I would like to re-design my blog page but it's going to take me a while to figure out how.
7. I love playing computer games especially mahjong.

Now the next bit is to give 15 people this award.  I found this to be so difficult.  I follow so many blogs and I love them all, also so many of you already have this award and some others don't accept them.  So please just take this as my appreciation of your blog and the pleasure I get in visiting it, if you don't wish to accept the award I will quite understand.

Motif # 101

This is one of my favourite motifs in the book, it looks more complicated to make than it actually is.  I love the way that it turned out, I can see myself returning to this and making a project with it in the future.

One Blanket for the homeless
Two little tops
Scarf's for the homeless
Washables and underwear.

Motif # 94

Motif # 94
Progress 6 0f 100
This motif was harder to make than I thought it would be, there is quite a bit of work involved in it, I found it easier to follow the chart than to read the pattern, but once you get used to it it's easy enough. You could make anything with this motif because of it's square shape it would be easy to join more of these together to make a larger project.
