Last Minute Rush and Have a Merry Christmas.

I have decided that I work better under pressure, I know it sounds mad but I get more work done when I know that it has to be done in a very narrow time frame, that's why most things get left until the last minute, that includes last minute little gifts to give to friends and family like these cute little angels..

You can add your own little touches by adding beads, you can find the quick and easy pattern here.

I am still enjoying the Drops Christmas Advent calendar and have made quite a few of the little patterns, I love those Christmas socks and have put them on my to do list for next year. Then the other night I decided to give the Christmas tree coasters a try and I love the result, again another one for next year everyone needs a Christmas tree coaster in their life 😄

Wreaths have been made

The only thing left to do is to complete my Twelve Days Of Christmas Sampler, there isn't a great lot to do for the twelfth day but with everything else that's going on it's finding the time to actually sit and complete it.  I won't have time to frame it but that doesn't matter as long as the sewing is done I will be happy.

I hope all your Christmas preparations are going well so that you can spend sometime just to relax and enjoy the season. I'm hoping to spend lots of time with my youngest son who is visiting from Qatar with his lovely wife, fingers crossed that Covid restrictions won't affect us too much, son number two and his wife are recovering from corona virus as we speak, it has been a rough time for them both but we are hoping that the worst is over.

Christmas blessings to you all, have a safe and very happy Christmas. 😘😘

Coaster Love

If you think it's been a little quiet here at the crafty corner it's because I've been away on holiday for a week soaking up some well needed sun and and eating lots of yummy food.  Thank you for all your lovely comments I will be trying to catch up with you all over the next few days.

I wasn't idle while I was away in fact it's fun to knit and crochet around the pool and on the beach, It gave me the opportunity to make these...

When I decorated my sitting room earlier in the year my coasters needed replacing because the colours didn't match my new decor, I used glass coasters for a while but many a coffee cup tipped over and spilled its contents because they weren't place squarely on the coaster.

Up until now I haven't had the time to make any, I've made six for myself but my friends liked them so much they all want some too so I know what they will be getting for Christmas :)

There are lots of coaster patterns available but I always go back to these because they are so pretty and very easy to make, they are Ana's Bloom Coasters and you can find the pattern  here.  I made an extra round of trebles becasue I was using 4ply patons cotton and they were turning out too small, Dk weight works best.

I had the knitting needles out too while I was away and made something small and cute and will be showing you once it's blocked and I have the buttons sewn on.

I'm trying to adjust myself to the colder weather I can't believe how much colder it is than before I went away just over a week ago, winter is rapidly approaching, how I wish I could escape the winter months and live in a place in the sun!

Hope you are all having a great week.

Last Minute Essentials

Thank you for all the lovely comments about the little Christmas tree decorations and I do apologise for not answering them all but life is a little crazy just now as I'm sure you will all appreciate, but please keep those lovely comments coming I love each and every one of them.

Every year family and friends drop in to say Happy Christmas which is all very lovely of course but don't you find that some people just don't seem care where they lay their mug of tea or whatever it is you have so lovingly prepared for them. I can't count the number of times I have had to quickly snatch a steaming mug from polished table and place something protective underneath.
The thing we have to ask ourselves is this...can one have too many coasters? the answer of course is no, we need to have some set out for immediate use and of course some stacked in strategic positions just to set out when needed.

If you remember I made these last year as part of the Beyond the Square motif Challenge

Everybody loved them and they were used throughout the festive period, I made quite a few for friends too.

To add to my coaster collection this year I have made these

Lovely Christmas stars, who would have thought they they would make such lovely coasters but they do and people will just love placing their mugs on a star it gives the base of the mug a lovely frilly edge see...

Don't you just love that mug :)
These of course are Kara's granny stars you can find the pattern here.

Then I had to make more of these because I just love making them and they really are the perfect coaster

Ana's bloom coasters , if you remember I made some in the summer here and as you can see I have made these in Christmas red and green you really can't have too many I have put the regular ones away for now until after the Christmas festivities,

This will be my last post until after Christmas but I will be back shortly after to talk about stash-busting I am very curious to know just how you have all done in 2013 three things to ask yourselves...

Have you busted all of your stash.?
Do you need to continue. ?
Do you need to start ?

There will be more about the Knit a Block A Week Challenge too so lots to keep us busy in the New Year.

Here's hoping that you all have the best Christmas ever! xxx

Something for the weekend

It's Bank Holiday weekend and the sun is shining! makes a change in my neck of the woods.
I loved these cute coasters as soon as I saw them and couldn't wait to make some.

Of course I shouldn't digress I should finish the wips I have on the go but I couldn't resist

The reason being I was expecting a few visitors and I hadn't got enough coasters!

I managed to hook a few before the visitors arrived and one of my friends took three of them with her when she left, 'I need coasters for my caravan and these are just the right colour for my décor!' Of course I was happy to let them go I love making things for my friends.

Which meant of course I had to hook some more.  Quick and easy the perfect Bank holiday weekend project.

Thank you Ana for the pattern and inspiration.

These little coasters weigh in at  7 grams each

made from the cotton stash

Have a great weekend everyone and for those of you in England make the most of the sunshine while it lasts!
