Rescued!

I do hope that everyone has had a great week, thank you for all your lovely comments and best wishes it was great to connect with you all again.
I'm slowly improving but don't coughs take an age to get better! at least the dizziness has improved, I do seem to have an awful blinding headache which won't leave me until around noon time I suppose that must be with all the congestion.  I do feel a bit ashamed moaning on when I know that there are many of you suffering with far worse ailments than me, my heart goes out to you all and I hope that you are all feeling better very soon.

Spring is on the way and that alone is enough to lift your spirits, look what I found hidden and buried underneath the lavender bushes.....
I rescued them and placed them indoors so that I could get a close up of their beauty I just love snowdrops don't you.

My home is still upside down and my furniture is stacked in a pile in the middle of the room but it's going to be another two weeks before they lay the carpets so I have cleaned and dusted it all and claimed a sofa to sit on, I refuse to sit upstairs a moment longer so I'm camped out in the sitting room amidst the chaos. I've brought my TV back downstairs so I'm comfortable for the first time in weeks.  I know I will have to take it back upstairs when they lay the carpets but I don't care enough is enough.

Look what met me when I stepped outside the other morning aren't they pretty I planted stacks of bulbs last Autumn it's lovely to see some of them flowering already.

I was asked by Knit for nowt to make a jumper for a three year old boy last week..

As always I used stash yarn, this time I used James Brett Rio DK  I have had this stashed away for years and the label was still intact so for once I knew what I was knitting with although I think that this shade is now discontinued. This is a 20% wool/acrylic mix so it will be nice and warm, it took 180 grams.  The pattern I used was Stylecraft leaflet 8903 nice, easy and straight forward.

Today is Shrove Tuesday so I hope that you all enjoy your pancakes, if you want to see how to make them see Amy's post here

Have a Great week!

Felling Better At Last!

Hello all you lovely people it's so good to be back here again the last couple of weeks have been horrid.  If you can remember I mentioned that I had Laryngitis in my last post at that point I didn't feel so bad but it got worse and worse as the week progressed and it aggravated my sinus problems so I couldn't breathe, let me just say it's been rather nasty, even worse when you have workmen in your house every day, it's so embarrassing when you have a fit of coughing and it won't stop and there are strange men in your house.

The ceilings have been plastered.

The walls have been papered

The walls and ceilings have been painted...but not the skirting boards they don't do wood! I will have to do all of that.

The floors have been measured but not yet covered, so I'm still living in my bedrooms and trying to clean up a bit of dust and rubble every day and paint a skirting board or banister or door or door frame or two.  Did I tell you I'm fed up!

Anyway up until yesterday I was feeling too ill to come on here and visit you all but I'm looking forward to seeing what you have all been up to.

I haven't felt like Knitting or crocheting but I have made these..

I did try to post them in time for Valentines day but I was too poorly.

This is week seven for the last dance on the beach blanket a lovely easy square and so handy to have the pattern as you can use these squares as part of any blanket, you can find the pattern here

The only thing I have felt like doing these past couple of weeks is reading I have to recommend this to those of you who haven't read it..

This book has 498 pages and I read it in a day! I couldn't put it down and boy did I suffer, I had a blinding headache and my poor blocked nose just couldn't keep up with the copious tears I shed. It's a lovely bitter sweet thought provoking love story, make sure you have your box of tissues at the ready.

See all the great parties I'll be linking to over in my right side bar.😊 Have a great week everyone.

All Is Revealed

Well it's taken me an age to write this post, life at home is not without it's trials at the moment what with various workmen trying to put my house back together after the burst pipe last December and me trying to get out of the way so that they can get it done, I've had limited time where I could actually use my WiFi and concentrate enough with all the noise in the background, aren't workmen noisy! and they say that women can talk, dear me these workmen never seem to shut up haha.

Today I'm confined to barracks because I have come down with Laryngitis probably the result of me walking the streets in wind snow and hail while my car got fixed because it didn't pass its MOT the front spring had gone and I'm not really surprised with all the potholes we have to contend with of late.

Well done to all of you who guessed correctly after my last post, it was of course The Mile A Minute Blanket, I've had this on my to do list for years and at last I have made one.

As always when following a pattern I do mine slightly different but it has turned out roughly the same.

It was easy to make and made a nice change from squares or from making a solid blanket, it has caused quite a bit of puzzlement when I have taken it out to work on, I've had comments like what on earth are you making and when I explain they still didn't seem to get it, to be honest I wasn't convinced myself until I started crocheting the strips together and it started to take shape.

You need to have even tension for this blanket and unfortunately I don't, sometimes there were inches different between strips and I had to do them again but in the end I got there and I love the finished result.

It's a great way to use up your stash too as long as you have a decent amount of yarn for the border colour your strips can be as many colours as you want them to be.

It used 550 grams of Dk stash yarn and I used this version of the pattern here
I have made this to be used as a cot blanket and I will be sending it to knit for nowt to help the disadvantaged in the East Yorkshire area.

For some strange reason I made two strips too many, I think they look fine joined as a scarf and it will keep some little one warm.

I hope you all have a great week!
