This a simple crochet baby hat in preemie and new born sizes, beginning with the same basic crown pattern which I first made for the Pompom hat. Once you have the basic crown pattern it's very easy to add your own touches and use any pattern stitch you wish.
For the Lisha hat I have used a variation on Paris stitch, to use Paris stitch for a hat you have to turn at the end of each round, for this variation I have worked the stitch in the round so I'm calling this reversed Paris stitch
Sizes
For a small Preemie work to round 3 of Basic Crown and then pattern until hat measures 3 1/2 inches from top of crown to bottom of hat.
For larger preemie work to round 4 then pattern until hat measures 4 to 4 1/2 inches.
For Newborn work to round 5 then pattern until hat measure 6 inches

Why Lisha? because Lisha means sweet and happy.... all little babies are sweet and if you want to make them happy just hook them a Lisha Hat :)

Hi, LInda I just love your cute little hats. I've been making doll's clothes including hats and I found that if I have the approximate count of stitches that fit around the head when finished, you know what I mean? The bit that actually fits around the face, that is a tremendous help..e.g. I have two different sized dolls( they are for a child minding centre) and one's size is 30trebles when finished, the other is 40trebles when finished, this is starting at the crown of the head of course, I found that I can start any size this way as long as I don't go over the end count of stitches.....Now, my question is, do you think you could possibly give the end count of trebles/stitches for the cute little hats/beanies you have here? Then I could do some too, knowing not to go over a certain count to keep the right size. Thank you so much for your beautiful beanies and hats. You are doing a fantastic job, making them....regards....Yaddy
ReplyDeleteThere are 11 (2tr,2ch,1dc) repeats on the small size and 13 on the larger size I hope this helps yaddy. :)
DeleteSweet little hats Linda! I used to make things for babies all the time but I seemed to have ventured away from that since my kids are growing, but I love that you send your makes for babies to the Guardian Grandma's.....it's a wonderful idea that I might have to start on too!

Hola Linda:

These are so adorable! Thank you so much for the pattern! I have been looking for a similar pattern like this to try! Thanks for sharing. They look amazing!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, crochet hats any size you like and so pretty too. When I made my first crochet hat I scoured the web for instruction on sizing. I soon realised that when doing the crown you continue until the circumference of your crown circle is the diameter of the head that you want to wear the hat. I found this a very good piece of sizing information which can be applied to any type of crochet hat. Also, as you've said, the crown to brim when you have finished your increases can be any stitch pattern.
ReplyDeleteI love your little hats and aren't they a great way to use up any left over yarn from other projects.
Those little hats are so precious and surely will be much appreciated. Wishing you a terrific Thursday. Tammy
ReplyDeleteThose hats are adorable.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you,
Meredith
This hat is so lovely, Linda. It is great to see it in so many colors, because each one looks so different, and yet are the same ;-)

Very very cute. Thanks for sharing the pattern!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Linda, I wish I had known you when my girls were born, as I would have loved it, if you had shown me how to crochet these adorable little baby hats. They are so lovely. You are such a kind and generous person, as you create such lovely pieces of crochet and then you pass them along and donate your beautiful work to different charities. Each and every person who receives one of your crochet works of art will be so pleased to receive it.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend Linda.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Thank you Daphne what lovely comments, you are so sweet. :)
DeleteSo cute!! Thank you very much for the pattern, Linda :-). Which yarn do you normally use for these hats?
ReplyDeleteWeekend greetings, Nata
I use my stash of left over baby yarn for baby hats Nata, these particular hats are in double knit weight. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pattern, I link you
ReplyDeleteDon't know why I've missed this pattern before Linda, just found it via Ravelry. One hat made this evening, LILY are needing premmie hats as well as bigger sizes and it's such a great way to use up odds and ends. Love the pattern!

Thank you Julia, I'm glad you like it. :)
DeleteThis is so beautiful. Thanks so much for posting it. I decided at the end of last year, that I would make a donation of preemie hats that I crochet, to our local neonatal unit. I love the lacy design of this rather than a straight trcrochet hat.
ReplyDeleteI shared the pic of the hat I'd made in my crochet group on facebook and I've been asked where I got the pattern, so I've linked them to this page.
thanks again xx
Thank you Ann Marie I'm pleased you like it. :)
DeleteThis hat is easy to work up and just so adorable for the baby girls. Do you have a great hat for the boy babies. I have been making and Donating baby hats to local hospital since my grandson died at 21 weeks. That has been 10 years now. I knit and crochet the hats. Thank you for this pattern.
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara I'm glad you like it, if you click on the my patterns tab just below the header you will find pompom baby hat and pixie baby hats both are great for boys. :)
DeleteHi Linda, I am going to start this patern in Aran and size 5 mm hook. It is to go a charity so it will fit someone hopefully. My question is do you think Aran it would be to thick?. ssPat
ReplyDeleteHi Pat, I think it will be great made in Aran yarn of course it will be much bigger but as you say it will fit someone, just remember to make it longer, measure the circumference and make the length to match it here is a chart to help http://www.eastsidefiberarts.org/topics/items/chemo.html I would love to see a picture when it's done. :) xx
DeleteI love this cute baby hat pattern. How do I get the measurements for the different sizes? I cant seem to find the measurements for the extra small hat. Thanks in advance Linda. :)
ReplyDeleteIt should measure 3 1/2 inches for a small preemie. :)
DeleteThanks you so much Linda :)
DeleteThese are woo hat patterns.. Really liked them!!
ReplyDeleteWill try to knit for my younger daughter.. :)
I make Preemie Hats for local Hospitals. Love the look of this pattern. Thanks
ReplyDeleteLisha hats pattern is very simple. I am making these and donating to the hospital
ReplyDeleteHi Linda. I am confused about one of the instructions. Does the word “miss” in “miss 2tr, (2tr,2ch,1dc) in next tr*, miss 2tr, (2tr,2ch,1dc) in next tr* “ mean skip 2tr?
ReplyDeleteYes Dawn it does.
DeleteNice blog, I will keep visiting this blog very often. Best Baby Sun Hats
